Introduction

How the broadcast works

All the x-hoppers headsets are connected in a broadcast channel. By default, all headsets are muted. To speak up, a store associate presses the button and holds it while saying their message. All other headsets connected to the broadcast can hear the message. Other people, including from other departments, can join the broadcast from other devices and pass messages to the store associates. Store associates wearing the headsets can also receive incoming calls, including external calls.

Log in/ log out of the headset

There are two ways of assigning headsets to people:

  1. A system administrator can assign headsets via WMS (the administrator web interface)

  2. A store associate can use voice authentication and say their name to log in to the headset

Important: The voice authentication feature should be set up by the system administrator (documentation: x-hoppers Admin Guide)

To log in to the headset using voice authentication:

  1. Lift the headset off the charging station

  2. When you hear “After the beep, please say “with x-hoppers, my voice is my password“, press and hold the Push-to-talk button and pronounce the phrase

  3. Wait till the login process is completed and you join the broadcast

To log out, place the headset back into the charging station.

Joining the broadcast

The headset automatically joins the broadcast once left up from the charging station.  

If the headset goes out of range or has been removed from the broadcast, it automatically rejoins the broadcast within 5 seconds of becoming available again.

Unmute yourself in the broadcast

There are two options to mute/ unmute to speak in the broadcast:

Mute the broadcast

There are cases when a store associate is busy with a customer and does not want to be disturbed by the noise from the headset. In this case you can temporarily mute the incoming audio from the headset:

Audio from the broadcast gets muted for 60 seconds by default. To manually unmute the broadcast before the 60-second timeout:

Volume Control

Press Volume Up/ Volume Down keys to increase/ decrease the volume of the broadcast.

Mind that store associates can wear the headset on their left or their right ear:

Accept smart notifications

If smart notifications are configured, you receive a notification once a customers requests assistance through any of smart call points, e.g., by scanning a QR code.

Manage incoming calls

When you receive an incoming call you hear the message "Incoming call".

Answer an incoming call

Same as in the broadcast, the headset stay muted by default. To unmute and speak to the caller, you have two options:

Switch between a call and the broadcast

In some cases store associates might need to put an active call on hold and switch to the broadcast, for example, to ask a question to their colleagues. To put the active call on hold and switch to the broadcast:

You hear “Call swapped” every time you switch from the call to broadcast and back.

Using AI Assistant

Introduction into AI Assistant

The AI Assistant enables store associates to get product information and help on demand from the headset using natural language. Store associates can press the button to trigger AI Assistant and then ask questions using their voice. AI Assistant checks information in the available resources and provides responses in natural language through the headset.

By default, AI Assistant searches for information in open sources (same as ChatGPT/ OpenAI). System administrator can connect the x-hoppers system to internal or external databases.

You can ask various questions, here are some examples:

Use AI Assistant

  1. Double-press the AUX Function button

  2. After the welcome message, press and hold the Push-to-talk button to unmute yourself and ask your question
    The x-hoppers system, powered by AI tools, processes the question, checks the information in the resources available to it, and plays back a response through the headset.

  3. To return to the broadcast, ask the AI Assistant “Join broadcast” or “Rejoin broadcast”

Call colleagues using Dial-by-name

Dial-by-name functionality allows you to initiate a call to a colleague right via x-hoppers headset.

  1. Double-press the AUX Function button

  2. After the welcome message, press and hold the Push-to-talk button to unmute yourself

  3. Ask the AI Assistant to make a call to the necessary colleague, providing the colleague ID or name, e.g. “Call 335” or “Call John Doe”

The x-hoppers system processes the request and initiates a call to the necessary colleague.

Important: The Dial-by-name feature should be set up by the system administrator (documentation: How to set up and use Dial-by-name feature )

Troubleshooting

The LED is purple

The headset is in the menu mode. Press and hold the AUX function key to exit the menu mode and rejoin the broadcast.

Turn off/ turn on the headset

Normally, there’s no need to turn on the headset: the headset is automatically turned on when placed into the charging station. If you need to manually turn on the headset, press and hold the AUX function key for 4 seconds.

There’s no need to turn off the headset: at the end of the shift place the headset back into the charging station. If you need to manually turn off the headset, press and hold the AUX function key and the two Volume keys simultaneously for at least 4 seconds to turn off the headset.

Reset the headset

To reset the headset, place it back into the charging station.

Hard-reset the headset: press Mute and Push-to-Talk buttons for at least five seconds. After the reset is completed, you hear a tone signal confirming it Register the headset

Register the headset

The headset is registered to a base station before it’s given to a store associate.

Should the headset deregister, you hear the message “Headset unsubscribed”.

To register the headset:

  1. If possible, move closer to a base station

  2. Press the Push-to-talk button and the two Volume keys at the same time
